Trump Orders Republicans To Stop Confirming Judges Until He Takes Power

Donald Trump is already trying to flex his dictatorial muscles by demanding that Republicans in the Senate refuse to allow any judicial appointments to take place between now and when Trump retakes power. He said that confirming any judges could result in Republicans being shut out of leadership positions, so he’s threatening them with retribution if they disobey him. Donald Trump is already attempting to flex his, uh, dictatorial muscles. We will call them by issuing an edict this past weekend, letting Republicans in the Senate know that if they confirm a single justice, a single federal judge before he gets sworn in from now until he, when he gets sworn in, he is gonna come after you. Which of course is a little ironic considering that we, you know, just had a segment talking about Jim Jordan swearing Donald Trump's not gonna seek retribution. And that literally came on the same day that Donald Trump not only threatened retribution, but actually threatened retribution against members of his own party. Here's what Trump said on truth social, while Jim Jordan was making an of himself on CNN Trump said, quote, any Republican senator seeking the coveted leadership position in the United States Senate must agree to recess appointments in the Senate without which we will not be able to get people confirmed in a timely manner.

We need positions filled immediately. No judges should be approved during this period of time because the Democrats are looking to ram through their judges as the Republicans fight over leadership. This is not acceptable. Thank you. Well, that's nice. I mean, he did end it politely saying Thank you. Instead of the usual like Maga, make America great again, or even signing it. Donald J. Trump. He just said thank you. You know, he is, I guess try to be a good person. No, I'm kidding. He's a horrible piece of human garbage. But he doesn't have authority over these people yet. Okay? That's the important thing to remember. But he is threatening them. Like, if you want that coveted leadership spot, you better, you better do as I say. Now we know that regardless of Trump saying this or Trump not saying this, Republicans, were not gonna sit there and just allow President Biden to just ram through all the judges he wanted to do.

That's ridiculous. That's not gonna happen. Trump didn't need to say this, but he did say it to let them know, I am in charge. I will come after you, I will make your life hell if you do this thing that you are already not gonna do. He's flexing that dictatorial muscle before he even gets sworn in. And there is of course a strategy to that. The strategy is to let these people know this is how the next four years are gonna go. He's gonna tell you what to do and you are gonna do it. That's it. That's how the next four years are. You do something that he has told you not to do. He's gonna come after you with fire and fury. You do something on your own that he hasn't had an opinion on. Uhoh, you've also stepped out of line.

The only thing Republicans will be able to do for the next four years is what Donald Trump explicitly gives them permission to do, considering the fact that they clearly have control of the Senate. Now, uh, we're still counting the last of the votes for some of the house races, but at the moment it does appear that Republicans also retain control of the house. And of course they have the judiciary. So Republicans are gonna have every single branch of government with Donald Trump sitting at the very top of it. He will have unparalleled power when coupled with his new immunity ruling from the Supreme Court over the summer. He's gonna do whatever the hell he wants to do. And that's a depressing thought. It's a depressing thing to have to sit here and say, but we deal with reality as it is not reality as we want it to be.
