Donald Trump has nominated Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz to be the next Attorney General of the United States, and even Republicans aren’t thrilled with this pick. When asked for comment, multiple Republican lawmakers – including those that would have to confirm Gaetz in the Senate – remarked that his past conduct (Which was the subject of investigations) will certainly come up, and this could create a massive problem for him as he tries to get confirmed. Ring of Fire’s Farron Cousins explains what’s happening.

Matt fricking Gates that of course, as we all know by now, is the man that Donald Trump has nominated to be the next Attorney General of the United States. Just when you thought Donald Trump's picks could not get any worse, he goes and selects one of the worst. Not just lawmakers, but worst human beings possible for that role. And there's a lot of different problems with Matt Gaetz serving as the Attorney General, and I'll go through all of them here. But the first one, like scandals aside, and I'll talk about those in a moment, just on the basis of the fact that this man has never tried a case, that alone should be disqualifying. Matt Gaetz has as much trial experience as I do, and I'm not a lawyer, but Matt Gaetz did not spend any meaningful time practicing law. He got his law degree, graduated from law school, and within a year became an elected official.
Like he only went to law school so he could use that to run for office. He's a career politician. Literally. The thing that Trump tells us is horrible. That is what Matt Gaetz is no real legal experience. Again, I've worked at a law firm for over 20 years. Matt Gaetz didn't even work at one for a full year. I do have more legal experience than Matt Gaetz. I am more qualified than him to serve in that position, and I still am not qualified to serve in that position. So just on, you know, uh, qualifications alone, the guy is horrible, his scandals, right? The House, the House Ethics Committee was actually set to vote on Friday on whether or not they should release the results of their years long investigation into his alleged, uh, inappropriate activities. They were gonna vote on whether or not to release that.
Like, no, that's kind of your job. You have to do that. So we don't even know at this point if the Ethics Committee is even gonna continue on with that vote, or if they're just gonna say, well, may as well bury it because we want him to be the Attorney General. So, I don't know, they could tank him if they release it, or they could just say, whatever Trump wants this guy, we're not gonna stand in the way. So that's a 50 51. I'm not gonna make a call on that because it really could go either way. Uh, but here's the thing. We all know about the Gates scandals. We all know that this man should have been prosecuted by the Department of Justice. Had they done their job. We wouldn't be in this situation. Matt Gaetz would be behind bars. But thank you Merrick Garland
For being such a completely incompetent Attorney General. And now you're gonna be replaced by somebody who's somehow even more incompetent than you. Merrick Garland is a disgrace, and he is the one person that once this Biden administration ends, I will be glad to wave goodbye to him. I'm not happy about what's coming on the pipeline behind him, but Merrick Garland has been the biggest failure of this Biden administration. It was a stupid pick from the start, and it proved to basically be the undoing of President Biden, possibly based on whether or not Matt Gaetz gets into the Attorney General's office. It could be the undoing of America. And yeah, Biden picked this guy that didn't do his job, and now we have all these horrible people coming back to Washington DC that is on Merrick Garland. By the way. Don't try to sugarcoat it. Don't try to downplay it.
