During an appearance on Fox News late last week, Kellyanne Conway defended the tanking of the economy by Donald Trump by actually praising Chrysler for laying off nearly 1,000 workers as a result of Trump’s tariffs. There really is no way to spin Conway’s positive reaction to Americans losing their jobs, and it was unconscionable for her to even suggest that this is a good thing. Ring of Fire’s Farron Cousins explains what happened.

Late last week as the stock market was losing trillions of dollars in value, and as American companies were of course laying off workers, Kellyann Conway went on Fox News to praise companies for laying off American workers here in the United States. Specifically, she was talking about Stellantis. Now, stellantis owns the Chrysler brand, which also owns Dodge, Jeep, Ram. All of those, you know, good American vehicles. I myself drive a Jeep. So they announced last week they were laying off 900 workers in response to Donald Trump's tariffs. Okay? They, they, they made no bones about it. We're gonna fire about a thousand people because of what Donald Trump has done. And we are pausing production at the moment, at our plants in Canada and Mexico, which means they know that demand is about to drop. So they're gonna scale back the supply so that they don't end up having to lower prices to where we can get these autos out the door today, right?

God forbid you help consumers a little bit. But in response to this, Kellyann Conway went on Fox News with the most insane spin I have ever heard from her, and that is saying a lot. But here is what Conway had to say about Stellantis laying off roughly a thousand American workers. This is President Trump, who is echoing much of what he did and wanted to do even more of in his first term, and completing that transaction. Now, whew. Is that, is that a se? This is President Trump who is echoing much of what he did and wanted to do even more. I mean, wow. Okay. Those are words. Don't, don't know if it's proper sentence, but, okay, those are words, Kellyann, and right off the bat, we can tell you're off your game. We can tell that even you don't believe in what you're saying because you can't even form a proper sentence, and you're usually in spite of all the lies, quite eloquent. But then she continued. We were seeing some positive reaction today for all the negative Debbie Downers. Look at the positive reaction. Stellantis, which owns Chrysler and Ram and Jeep, they came out today and said they're going to stop producing in Mexico. They are one of the ones, the big manufacturers in Mexico. They're going to stop doing that.

They laid off 900 American workers in the United States and only paused production in Mexico. You filthy liar. They didn't say, we're not making any cars in Mexico ever again. They said, we're pausing it like we're gonna keep doing it. We're just not gonna do it right now.

But we're not laying those people off. No, we're firing the good red-blooded American workers. And you're praising them. You are praising them for having to fire people because of what your former boss did by himself. You know, I do pin this on the Republicans because Donald Trump is a Republican and you've got a Republican House of Representatives that refuses to go along with legislation from the Senate that would stop Donald Trump from putting the tariffs in place. I assume everybody knows about that, and I'm not just throwing random things at you that you don't understand. So yes, this is a Republican issue, but at the end of the day, one dude did this and it was Donald J. Trump. And it's not because this is a part of the Republican party platform, it's because he's a crazy person and let's just call it what it is, okay? I'm not gonna sit here and be like, well, he is doing it because of libertarian principles. He's doing it because he's effing crazy folks. Okay, let's just accept that and move on.
