So back in 2023, and of course early 2024, there were whispers and rumors that Laura Trump was going to end up running for Senate in the state of Florida, basically issuing a primary challenge to Marco Rubio. Well, that never ended up happening. Instead, Laura Trump became the co-chair of the RNC, which she actually attempted to use to launch her music career, which did not go well. Uh, but then once Marco Rubio was appointed to Trump's cabinet, there were then rumors that, hey, Trump wants Ron DeSantis to appoint Laura Trump to that position. Yeah, but then Trump and DeSantis, and then all of the other Republicans in Florida and DeSantis all had a big falling out. Ron DeSantis has fallen out of favor. He didn't pick Laura Trump because she said, I'm not interested in it. I got a job at Fox News hosting a show like in the wee hours of the evening on Saturdays.

So she didn't take the job then. But now there are more rumors. This week, rumors began swirling that Laura Trump was going to be seeking the Senate seat that is being vacated by retiring Republican Senator Tom Tillis at the end of next year. Tillis announced recently, of course, that he is not going to be running for reelection. So all eyes are now on Laura Trump. That has been the big news that has been all over the headlines. She's gonna, she's gonna do it this time. And immediately both Republican and Democratic political consultants broke out in laughter. Here is what former Mitt Romney, chief strategist Stuart Stevens said, I think she'd be a disaster for Republicans. Two things are true. The race probably would be over. She would win the primary and she'd probably be the worst candidate that they could field. This has been a very tightly contested race.

It's one of the states that Romney won and that Barack Obama had won before. I don't think there's anything that's going on now inside Trump world that he's delivering that makes him more popular in North Carolina. And then you had former Obama campaign manager, Jim Messina, who said, I have some bipartisan agreement with Stewart on this. Laura Trump is a dream for Democrats. She will lose that seat because she will not be able to separate herself from Donald Trump and all the things he just did. You know, a normal candidate can come out there and say, look, I disagree with the president on a couple things. I'm, I'm a different kind of Republican the way Tom Tillis has won two very, very close Senate races.

So they think that Laura Trump running would be the one, the funniest thing, but two, the worst possible thing for the Republican Party. And they're completely right. Let me explain this. Tom Tillis won his last election, you know, five years ago, six years. By the time we get to the next one by two points, that's it. Two points. Trump did carry the state of North Carolina in the 2024 election, but only by three points. So, and of course, back in 2020, Biden carried the state. North Carolina is a true swing state.
