3:13Now PlayingEdward Snowden, the now world-famous NSA leaker, who revealed that the US government is collecting the phone records of the majority of Americans and intercepting Internet communications en masse through a program called PRISM, has now been charged by the US government with espionage under the 1917 Espionage Act. The clauses of the Espionage Act under which he is being charged? "Unauthorized communication of national defense information" and "willful communication of classified communications intelligence information to an unauthorized person." Glenn Greenwald of The Guardian, the reporter to whom Snowden leaked the sensitive information, called the charges outrageous since Snowden has not cooperated with any foreign power to hurt the government of the United States and has no interest in doing so. Guest host Daniel Marans agrees with Greenwald.
