7:38Now PlayingWhy are conservatives so hung up on abortion rights? Nancy Cohen, author Delirium: The Politics of Sex in America, gives us a history lesson on the evolution of today's right-wing sex scolds. Back in the 1970s, these same social conservatives were up in arms about women in the workplace and sexual freedom. This is just the latest front in their battle to control women's sexuality, Cohen says. Other Republicans, like Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey are just fellow travelers--cracking down on women's rights because it is a politically expedient way to shore up the far-right base. Nancy ends on an optimistic note, however, suggesting that the latest attacks on women's bodies are finally beginning to galvanize the political left to take action.
