10:00Now PlayingThe US has deported more than 2 million undocumented immigrants in the past 4.5 years. Lizbeth Mateo, of the National Immigrant Youth Alliance (NIYA) is 1 of 9 DREAMers--Americans who entered the US without proper authorization when they were very young--who are doing something to stop it. Lizbeth crossed back into Mexico to bring attention to the pain and cruelty of deportation.
Lizbeth and her fellow DREAMers plan to demand re-entry into the home they have been living in for years--the United States of America. They want to show the world how hard it is for people who have been living in America once they have been deported. Cut off from family members and friends--they just want to go home.
Since this interview aired on Saturday, July 20, Lizbeth and her peers have been detained trying to re-enter the United States. They need our solidarity and support.
