4:24Now PlayingAfter one day of jury deliberation, former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin has been found guilty of second-degree murder, second-degree manslaughter and third-degree murder, Judge Peter Cahill announced Tuesday.
Chauvin was initially charged with second-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter for the death of George Floyd. A third-degree murder charge was reinstated during the start of the trial’s jury selection process.
The trial began on March 29 and after two weeks of witness testimony, closing arguments were presented on April 19. Bail was denied and he is remanded to the Hennepin County Jail until sentencing.
