9:28Now PlayingOver the last year, there have been calls for defunding the police and heightened scrutiny around police tactics. Dr. Robert Gonzalez, a retired New York Police Department officer who is an Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice at St. John's University, joins "Start Your Day" with Sharon Reed and Mike Hill to discuss. Gonzalez says officers are getting enough training, but in order to give them more, police resources have to be taken off the street and put in the classroom. "No one hates a bad cop more than a good cop," Gonzalez says, adding that "bad apples" need to be removed from the force.
