3:09Now PlayingBNC’s Mike Hill and Bofta Yimam talk about a Massachusetts high school student headed to Harvard University in the fall, who gave away a $40,000 scholarship to a student going to community college, feeling they were more deserving.
“Knowing my mom went to community college and how much that was helpful, I would be so very grateful that administration would consider giving the general excellence scholarship to someone who’s going to community college,” Verda Tetteh said during her speech. “It is such a great honor, but I also know that I am not the most in need of it.”
“She’s got a bright future,” Hill says. “She was voted most likely to be president and after seeing something like that, she would definitely get my vote if she continues on that road.”
