Tewolde is joined by Payne’s attorney, Kelley Henry, and his sister, Rolanda Holman, to talk about Payne and why they believe he’s innocent. Henry states that her hopes are that the family can gain clemency for Payne, and adds that the state legislature in Tennessee recently passed a law because of Payne's case. The law would eliminate the procedural technicalities that were keeping him out of court because he is intellectually disabled, making him ineligible for the death penalty.
There is a hearing scheduled for December 13 and Henry says the family has filed a lawsuit against the governor in reference to this case.
