“Making the Case with Yodit”explores this issue with author and Marshall Project staff writer, Maurice Chamma, who covers this issue in his book “Cooking Them to Death: The Lethal Toll of Hot Prisons.” According to Chamma, it is uncertain the actual amount deaths due to poor record-keeping and limited access to autopsy, but in some states what is known is that at least 20 prisoners have died due to heat since 1998.
