Dr. Wood spoke about how frightening it is that kids will be returning to school in the fall unvaccinated with the new Delta variant on the rise. Dr. Matthews added that kids will need to wear masks to prevent catching this new mutant variant.
Dr. Matthews says that certain states like California are heavily enforcing wearing masks. This is good protocol because with this new variant, the signs and symptoms are similar to the common cold, like a running nose. This variant will adversely affect Black and Brown children, because vaccinated numbers among the groups are still lower than the national average.
