Ugandan athlete Julius Ssekitoleko, who was preparing for the Olympics, is missing. The 20-year-old weightlifter had been staying at a hotel in Western Japan along with eight teammates when he didn’t show up for a COVID-19 test.
Africa is entering the deadliest phase of the COVID-19 pandemic, and critics are pointing blame towards the wealthiest countries for holding back vaccines that the continent needs. Only 1% of Africans are fully vaccinated.
