With this new, law police can no longer get juveniles in a room and tell lies to them in order to get a confession. The governor of Illinois had been working on this law for a while to reduce sentencing. This was just one of four new laws passed in Illinois. The other laws deal with restorative justice, practices and after convictions. The whole idea of this set of laws is to deal with the problem of mass incarceration.
