He died on July 25 in his home in Hollywood, Florida, at the age of 86. Moses was a champion of voting rights for people of color and equity in the classroom. He was born in Harlem, New York, and went to Mississippi where he co-founded the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party. Despite death threats, Moses registered thousands of voters in the early 1960s.
Also, he founded the Algebra Project, which is devoted to improving access to education in math as a pathway to the workforce.
