Coming up, 56 years ago today, the Voting Rights Act of 1965 was signed into law. However, it hasn’t stopped lawmakers in numerous states from passing voter suppression laws. Twenty-six protestors were arrested outside of Ronald Reagan National Airport in Virginia as they were calling for Congress and President Biden to take more aggressive action to protect the right to vote.
Also, Texas Governor Greg Abbott has ordered a third special session on Aug. 7 to pass a bill that would intend to restrict access to voting. He is still threatening to arrest lawmakers who went to Washington, D.C. and don't show up to vote.
