2:01Now Playing“Start Your Day” host Sharon Reed and guest host Shannon LaNier talk about Beyoncé and Jay-Z's recent diamond campaign, wherein the singer was dressed in 200 carat diamonds.
The picture paid homage to the film “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”, and had a never-before-seen Basquiat painting in the background.
The campaign will donate $2 million to HBCUs, and Black students will benefit from this artwork. The hosts talk about how you don’t even really notice Jay-Z and it is because he is taking this picture with the Queen B herself.
Then, Reed and LaNier think about how much the couple made from this campaign because they rarely do promotional campaigns. They are using this as way to donate $2 million back to HBCUs, so it has to be enormous amount of money. LaNier reminds the audience when Beyoncé performed at Coachella, she gave $100,000 to HBCUs.
