2:14Now PlayingSchool districts are ramping up COVID-19 testing in the New Orleans public school system. They have already administered 3,000 COVID-19 tests in the first 3 weeks of school.
The goal is to make sure they can quickly identify a COVID-19 case and move that student out of the classroom in order to lessen the risk and impact to other students and staff.
The school system has partnered up with the Department of Health in order to offer additional testing. They are offering cash incentives to students every time a student is tested for COVID19. The results are delivered to these families in 24 hours or less. The testing is needed as the district has identified 740 cases, with nearly 4,700 people out on quarantine. The COVID19 spike is happening across the South. To watch BNC programming, visit
