8:39Now PlayingAfter two years, a grand jury in Colorado indicted three police officers and two paramedics involved in the August 2019 death of Elijah McClain.
McClain, 23, was stopped by police while he was walking home from a store, placed in a neck restraint and then injected with ketamine. He was unarmed and not suspected of any crime. There was an initial 911 call of a suspicious suspect in the area, leading police to report to the store.
The officers and paramedics were indicted on charges of manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, as well as specific charges of one count of crime of violence, three counts of assault and six counts of crime of violence.
Leslie Ricard Chambers, Deputy Executive Counsel to Louisiana Gov. John Edwards, shares more on “Start Your Day.”
