4:28Now PlayingThe United States Supreme Court refused to block Texas’ most restrictive abortion law in the nation, which went into effect on Wednesday.
“Our creators in doubt us with the right to life, and yet millions of children lose their right to life every year because of abortion,” Gov. Greg Abbott says in a clip aired on “BNC Go.” “In Texas, we work to save those lives.” Planned Parenthood President Alexis McGill Johnson says the Supreme Court has effectively overruled Roe v. Wade for women in Texas. Anti-abortion activists have praised Texas for recognizing babies as humans as soon as a heartbeat is detected, but President Joe Biden calls the law extreme. He says it will significantly impair women’s access to adequate healthcare, especially for low-income individuals and women of color. BNC correspondent Bofta Yimam says the fight is certainly not over, and legal chances are ahead in the weeks and months to come.
