8:07Now PlayingMichael K. Williams is well known for his role as Omar on "The Wire," and he was loved by many for his work on and off the small screen. The 54-year-old actor was passionate about helping people who grew up like he did. He was born in 1966 in Brooklyn as the son of a mother from Nassau, Bahamas and a father from South Carolina. He was raised in the Vanderveer Projects in East Flatbush. Channeling his personal pain as a victim of abuse into energy, he started as a backup dancer for hip hop acts before getting into acting. Jeff Lindor, a close friend of Williams and founder of The Gentlemen Factory, joins "BNC Live" to discuss his philanthropic work with the late actor.
