10:08Now PlayingNYU School of Law's Brennan Center for Justice released a surprising report.
The center obtained internal documents from the Los Angeles Police Department showing that Police Chief Michael Moore directed officers to obtain social media information from every person they interviewed, whether that person was arrested or even accused of a crime.
The information would be recorded on "field interview cards," and officers are also directed to ask for people's social security numbers under the guise that it is required under federal law.
Rachel Levinson-Waldman, deputy director of the Brennan Center's Liberty and National Security Program, joins Yodit Tewolde on “Making the Case” to discuss the report.
