Clark says it’s a busy but somber and relatively quiet day in the district where the attacks happened 20 years ago. He mentions first responders proud to wear their uniforms, family members carrying around photos of their loved ones, and the survivors who will never forget that dreadful day. In a clip aired on “BNC Go,” 1993 and 2001 attack survivor Frederick Myers says, “The other thing that’s significant about 9/11 is, the stories of African Americans get muffled. You hear about all the fire department, the police officers, but you do not hear about the maintenance workers, you do not hear about the people who take out the trash, you don’t hear about the individuals who make sure the hallways are clean. You don’t hear about their stories, [but] many of them passed away.”
