The process will start with a review of people charged with non-violent drug offenses, with four years left to serve on their sentences. According to the Bureau of Prison's website, 7,600 people are on home confinement.
In California, voters head to the polls to decide whether to keep Governor Gavin Newsom in office. There are a number of candidates looking to unseat him, like Republican candidate and talk show host, Larry Elder, who is the frontrunner.
