It claimed the lives of four Black girls, 14-year-olds Cynthia Wesley, Carole Robertson, Addie Mae Collins and 11-year-old Denise McNair. Wright wonders if America really remembers the four little girls and other victims of racial injustice. Martin Luther King Jr., who performed the eulogy for the girls, said, "These children unoffending, innocent and beautiful were the victims of one of the most vicious, heinous crimes ever perpetrated against humanity."
