Derek Chauvin pleaded not guilty during a brief hearing in the excessive use-of-force civil rights case in federal court today. Already convicted for the murder of George Floyd, Chauvin faces a two-count inditement for a 2017 confrontation with a Black teen. He's accused of pinning down the 14-year-old boy, striking him with a flashlight and grabbing him by the throat.
In a case involving a Black former Minneapolis officer, the Minnesota Supreme Court reversed the third-degree murder conviction of Mohamed Noor, who fatally shot an unarmed Australian woman in 2017.
