However in Europe, Dutch citizens of African descent are wanting to change their last names after one city in the Netherlands dropped the expensive cost of a name change. Black people in the city of Utrecht are excited at finally having the option of replacing what they call "slave names" with ones that honor their African roots.
Linda Nooitmeer, chair of the National Institute for Dutch Slavery History, joins Shannon LaNier on “Black News Tonight” to discuss the issue.
