YouTube Description
as posted by the channelKenyette Barnes, co-founder of the #MuteRKelly campaign, joins BNC to discuss the R&B singer being found guilty on charges of sex trafficking and racketeering.
Barnes and her supporters are credited with really shutting R. Kelly down by bringing attention to his despicable behavior, which included protesting at his concerts and turning fans away. Recalling the singer being acquitted on charges of child pornography in 2008, Barnes said he continued with more predatory behavior and “the government got it right this time” with the guilty verdict. As far as what the verdict means for women of color and people of power, Barnes said it brings the sexual victimization of Black women and girls to a federal stage and addresses behavior that’s years in the making.
