7:14Now PlayingSharon Reed and Mike Hill stress the importance of getting enough rest and scheduling important health screenings to maintain a healthy mind, body and spirit as BNC focuses on Black health.
BNC is challenging Black and Brown people to “be well” all October long. The network will focus on four key areas which are: cancer awareness and prevention, wellness, sickle cell awareness and Black maternal health. Reed says this is the most important work the network has done to date, especially considering how racial bias affects healthcare. “We have got to continue the education process and to be the advocates that so many of us in the Black community need when it comes to pushing to ensure that we have the proper diagnosis and the right type of treatment,” added Hill.
