Author of “Surviving the White Gaze,” Carroll joins BNC’s “AMplified with Aisha Mills” to discuss her experience growing up in a white community. She opens up about how she grew up as an adolescent around people who didn’t look like her. “It’s turmoil but it's also, as I’ve realized, a real sense of feeling bereft... feeling as though you are not being loved and gathered up and held in that Blackness, as you know is just so beautiful,” she explains.
