8:21Now PlayingPresident Joe Biden delivered remarks Friday on September’s jobs report, in which the unemployment rate was down 4.8%.
Biden called the decrease a “significant improvement from when I took office, in a sign that our recovery is moving forward even in the face of a COVID pandemic.” He called the improvement widespread as he specifically mentioned the African American community, where the rate was down nearly a full percent and is below 8% for the first time in 17 months, and the Hispanic communities. The president said we’re making progress on COVID-19 as well, with more than 186 million Americans being fully vaccinated and cases down 40% in the past month.
