2:47Now PlayingDrug maker Merck has applied for emergency use authorization for its antiviral COVID pill, and if approved, it would be the first at-home treatment available for the virus.
Clinical trials showed that the drug, called molnupiravir, cuts the risk of hospitalization and death in half for patients with mild to moderate COVID symptoms. Experts say there are some concerns as far as the cost of the medicine. Also, the pill was not tested among vaccinated patients.
