According to a recent report released by the advocacy group "Speak UP," during the COVID-19 pandemic, Black children had the least access to instruction and the largest learning gaps from online school, which made existing inequities even worse.
“Speak UP” partnered with the LA Urban League and LMU's Black Alumni Association to connect Black students in Los Angeles County with Black tutors. Organizers say it was incredibly successful with 70% of the students meeting their learning goals.
