The “Empire” star is charged with six counts of disorderly conduct as he’s accused of lying to police about an attack back in January of 2019. Prosecutors say the whole thing was staged to get publicity.
Smollett says he was attacked by two masked men wearing red MAGA hats, who put a noose around his neck, doused him with bleach and yelled racist and homophobic slurs.
