4:19Now PlayingEmmett Till was 14 years old when he was dragged out of bed, tortured, and killed.
His lynching set off the civil rights movement and had prominent leaders such as Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr calling his murder an example of "the evil of racial injustice." Now, after unbelievable heartache, the Till family has a bright spot to celebrate. Till and his mother Mamie were posthumously awarded a gold medal of honor by Congress.
Deborah Watts, a social justice advocate and Emmett Till's cousin, joins "DC Today" to discuss what the medal means to their family.
