9:41Now PlayingOne historic neighborhood in Virginia wasn't destroyed by an interstate, but by the demolition of a bridge that connected it to the surrounding area.
Located along the C&O Railroad tracks and near the national cemetery, Uniontown, a historically Black neighborhood in Staunton, was once a thriving community with homes, stores and even a school.
Now the city of Staunton is trying to decide what to do with Uniontown as the prime real estate sits largely uninhabited. But members of the community say the spirit of Uniontown should not be forgotten.
Dr. Amy Tillerson-Brown, dean of the Mary Baldwin College for Women, joins Aisha Mills on “AMplified” to discuss the future of Uniontown.
All this and more on “AMplified.”
