Biden has pledged he will name the first Black woman to serve on the Supreme Court, and there are plenty of well-qualified candidates who might be called upon when the SCOTUS term ends this summer.
Replacing Breyer won't change the court's 6-3 conservative majority, but his retirement has the potential to influence decisions for generations to come.
