Actress Gets a DUI After Performing at a Show in Lake Forest, Illinois

On November 16, 2023 at approximately 12:57 AM, Officer Ashley Molinari with the Lake Forest Police Department observed a white 2017 Kia Sportage driving erratically on Waukegan Road in the southbound direction before turning Westbound onto Everett Road. She began driving towards the car and she paced the vehicle at 45 MPH in a 35 MPH zone. Officer Molinari initiated a traffic stop at Everett Road and Old Barn Lane.

She made contact with a 24-year-old female, who was identified as Kaitlin. As she was speaking with Kaitlin, she advised her that she was being stopped for speeding. When Kaitlin was asked if she had consumed any alcohol, she admitted to consuming one 16 oz. Stella beer at the Lantern bar in Lake Forest, Illinois. Based on her admission to consuming alcohol, Officer Molinari asked Kaitlin to perform field sobriety exercises.

The first exercise was the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test. During the HGN test, Officer Molinari observed the lack of smooth pursuit and distinct and sustained nystagmus at maximum deviation, but she did not observe the onset of nystagmus prior to 45 degrees. The second exercise was the Walk and Turn test. During the Walk and Turn test, Kaitlin did not keep her arms at her sides for the entire duration of the test and turned improperly. The final exercise was the One Leg Stand test. During the One Leg Stand test, Kaitlin failed to raise her foot in the proper fashion and displayed a lack of balance.

Following the field sobriety exercises, Officer Molinari offered Kaitlin an opportunity to take a Preliminary Breath Test (PBT), and the results indicated a BAC of 0.081%. Based on her erratic driving, the odor of alcohol, her admission to consuming alcohol, her inability to adequately perform the field sobriety exercises, and the results of the PBT, Officer Molinari placed Kaitlin under arrest for driving under the influence. After she was handcuffed, Kaitlin was placed in the patrol car and her vehicle was towed.

Kaitlin was transported to the Lake Forest Police Department for further processing. At the station, Kaitlin agreed to submit breath samples for testing. The results indicated a BAC of 0.067%, which was under the legal limit of 0.08%. After the paperwork was completed and Kaitlin was photographed and fingerprinted, she was was released to her mother pending her court appearance at the Lake County Courthouse on December 1, 2023. Kaitlin was cited for driving under the influence of alcohol (625 ILCS 5/11-501(a)(2)), improper turn at intersection (625 ILCS 5/11-801), speeding (625 ILCS 5/11-601), and operating uninsured motor vehicle (625 ILCS 5/3-707).

Court records indicate that Kaitlin’s case was disposed of in court on February 13, 2024. The citations for DUI and operating an uninsured motor vehicle were nolle prossed. She was fined a total of $1,276.50 for the other 2 citations.
