11:41Now PlayingIn this episode of Crime Watch Daily Updates: 8-year-old Kirsten Hatfield of Midwest City, Oklahoma, disappeared in the middle of the night. Her window was cracked open, and her blood-stained underwear had been discarded in the backyard.
Kirsten was never seen again.
The little girl’s disappearance remained a mystery for 18 years until investigators in Oklahoma cracked the case after finding Anthony Palma’s DNA on Kirsten’s underwear. Anthony Palma lived near Kirsten, and several people told investigators initially that he did yard work for her family.
He provided a DNA sample, and it came back as a match to the DNA found on Kirsten’s window sill and underwear. Anthony was arrested in October 2015.
Anthony went to trial two years later in 2017 and was convicted of murder. A judge sentenced him to life in prison without parole.
Kirsten’s body still has not been found, and the likelihood of locating her remains diminished in January 2019 when Anthony’s cellmate beat and strangled him to death.
