Nobody reacted very much when he taped recent comments calling for Ukrainian children to be drowned and incinerated, because for Krasovskiy this was business as usual. But four days later he was the picture of emotional contrition, sadfaced and selfflagellating in sackcloth as he called himself an idiot who got carried away in the heat of the moment. Why the sudden turn around? Because, as Mikhail Fishman explains, he violated unspoken rules in the perverse Orwellian universe where Putin's cult of the leader defends children in the abstract in order to humanize the awful Kremlin machine that has killed at least two kids a day since the beginning of the war against Ukraine.
