Chicago has hosted the most national conventions in the country, including more than 25 since the 19th century. From the nomination of Abraham Lincoln in 1860 and a ruthless ideological battle on the floor between Roosevelt and Taft supporters in 1912 to the historic 1968 riots against the backdrop of the Vietnam War to a rather staid affair in 1996, Chicago personifies politics.
