Political and economic darkness looms with unseen force in #Pakistan. Its turbulent political history continues to keep the Muslim country in a perpetual crisis that pits the interests of the political elite against the military elite, who play with the advantage of history and their armed force. Coups, corruption and assassinations have left a trail of elected prime ministers unable to complete their mandates, and the curse continues to this day.
Its decrepit economy, marked by a weak currency, stratospheric inflation, sky-high national debt and a shortage of energy sources, sees only one player as its salvation: its best friend, China. But the joint projects that promise to lift Pakistan out of its misery are hampered by the lack of security due to the constant presence of terrorist groups. And the man who set himself up as Pakistan's new messiah, former Prime Minister #ImranKhan, has not been able to bring the Pakistani people the stability he promised. After his deposition, the new caretaker government faces the most critical situation in Pakistan's history and will have to make the right decisions in order to avoid ending up like neighboring #SriLanka.
