He was arrested at the Paris airport when he landed on his private jet. It is noted that he was detained because he did not cooperate with French law enforcement and because of the tools offered by Telegram (one-time number, cryptocurrencies, etc.). This allegedly makes him an accomplice in drug trafficking, crimes involving minors, and fraud. Durov is persona non grata in France. That is why he travelled to the Emirates, the former Soviet Union and South America. He travelled very little in Europe and avoided countries where Telegram is monitored. Durov reportedly faces 20 years in prison in France. It is noted that he will be tried as a French citizen. The billionaire's properties are currently being searched.
