As a result of the crash of a Boeing 737-800 aircraft of Jeju Air at the South Korean airport of Muan, 179 people died, and two were rescued. This was reported on December 29 by the Yonhap agency, citing the National Fire Agency of South Korea. According to Yonhap, the accident occurred around 09:00 local time, 02:00 Kyiv time. According to the preliminary version of events, the Jeju Air plane, with 175 passengers and six crew members on board, skidded off the runway during landing at Muan Airport in the South Jeolla Province, approximately 288 km northwest of Seoul. The airliner slid across the ground without its landing gear deployed, crashed into a concrete wall, caught fire, and then exploded.
