Why Does the Dutch “KJV” Differ from the English One?

The Dutch equivalent of the KJV, the Statenvertaling of 1637, was based on the Textus Receptus, achieved dominance in the Dutch Protestant church much like the KJV—and yet differs textually from the KJV in numerous places. Why?

* I said in the video, “I do not believe there is a single Bible translation in the world, in any language, that is based on *precisely* the same text-critical choices as those made by the KJV translators.” If I had more time, I would possibly have reshot this video just to correct this—but there is a significant exception to the universal negative I gave. That would be English translations that are self-conscious updates of the KJV. That would include the Modern English Version, the KJVer, and the Simplified KJV. The NKJV does make a few, very obscure, incredibly minor textual choices that are different from those of the KJV translators—though the majority of these choices can be found in other TR editions (I discuss this in detail here: bit.ly/3k0G9n1). The MEV may have done the same thing, but I don't know. I am unaware of any place where the MEV uses a different text.

Also, I realized after posting the video that I didn't directly answer the question posed in the title of this video, or not in the way I think most viewers would expect. Here's my simple answer to the question of why the Dutch "KJV" differs from the English one: I don't know. I don't think anyone really does. In any given case, why did they choose one reading over another? I can make guesses at a few places, but most of the differences are so minor that I couldn't even hazard a guess. Unless they recorded in some place I'm unaware of all the reasons for all their textual choices, I'm betting we won't know till heaven.
