Without the help of rescuers, cold-stunned sea turtles "float up to the surface and become vulnerable to boat strikes or wash ashore and become stranded," the National Park Service explains on its website.
According to a post shared by Texas Parks and Wildlife, the turtles spend time recovering in rehabilitation centers before returning to the wild.
