What's Going On With Shipping?
August 5, 2022
***This episode was Story #5 on the August 3, 2022 edition of What the Ship!***
In this episode, Sal Mercogliano - former merchant mariner and maritime historian at Campbell University - discusses the use of the commercial tankers MT Maersk Peary and SNLC Goodwill during Exercise RIMPAC 2022. Specifically, why the Navy should be investing and increasing the number of commercial tankers under charter to them to increase the amount of time that MSC oilers could remain on station and supplement the closure of the Red Hill Fuel facility at Pearl Harbor.
