Some 16 years ago Robert and Margaret Gaston looked around and realised they had a heck of a lot of tins. So they started collecting more, and more, and more of them. Subscribe

Today the duo has amassed a collection of more than 12,000 tins which they display in a huge shed on their semi-rural property in Geraldton Western Australia as The Tin Heads Museum. None of the tins is duplicated. Some date back hundreds of years.

Soon word of their collection spread and they earned the name of Tin Heads. It wasn’t long before it their tin collection became something of a tourist attraction. People from overseas started to visit. Journalists called. An international TV crew rocked in.

The Tin Heads Museum became not just a collection but a passion for the duo who relished discovering new tins, uncovering the stories behind them, and chatting with visitors who shared their interest.

But as dementia began to claim Margaret’s memory and Robert’s health declined, he has begun the search for a new generation of Tin Heads.
