For more than 50 years Val has dedicated her life to St John Ambulance, serving as one of the ACT's longest standing volunteers. Val led her fellow volunteers through the ‘Black Summer’ bushfires and the COVID-19 pandemic, personally contacted every member to check their welfare, mental health and morale was maintained. Val's work and tireless commitment has earned her the 2022 ACT Senior Australian of the Year award.
